Here at Shady Rest near Alexandria Minnesota, we welcome campers with a wonderful park-like setting on beautiful Lake Amelia, clean facilities, safe beach, great fishing and most importantly, a family vacation environment. We welcome individual families, small groups  and family reunions. Please review our General Resort Policies below. We take pride in maintaining a clean, well groomed campground. All of our campsites are well spaced and have plenty of shade and grass. Each has its own picnic table, fire ring and access to the shower facilities. We have 7 sites that are near the lake, (sites A-F & Lilac), 3 sites located up by the store, (sites M, N and S), and 8 sites by the upper playground, (sites G-L, P, & PH). Lilac is limited to a pop-up camper or tent. Free wireless internet can be connected at these sites.

2 night minimum,   Holidays - 3 night minimum

Sites A-F, M, N, S includes electric-water-sewer A-F have softened and conditioned water. Wireless internet connection can be reached at these sites.

Sites G-L, P, PH, & Lilac includes electric and water only. Lilac has softened and conditioned water.

Check in is after 2pm - Check out is before 1pm. If you do not show on the 1st day of your reservation and you still plan on coming, please call to inform us otherwise we will consider it a no-show and rent the site to someone else.
Bringing a Boat: If you are bringing a boat, we usually have a boat slip available at no charge BUT they are not guaranteed. If you are bring more then 1 boat, there is a $6 extra boat charge per day. NO BOAT OR TRAILER IS ALLOWED TO BE PARKED AT SITES A-F, M, N, OR LILAC.

No Pets - No Jet Skis - No ATV's - No Fireworks

Resort General Policy: To maintain a family setting, we do not allow loud, obnoxious, distasteful behavior or language at any time. Our quiet hours are from 11pm to 8am. Disturbing any guest with loud voices, music or other means that prevents other guest from sleeping, relaxing or enjoying themselves will not be tolerated. During quiet hours we expect children to be supervised.

Deposits: $50.00 for short stays(2 nights) - $100.00 for 4 nights- week, $75 for Holiday weekends. Deposit must be received within 5 days to secure your reservation. We accept check, money order, Discover, Visa or Master Card.
 Cancellation Policy: Deposits are not refundable.  
 Visitor Policy: For the privacy and security of all our resort guest, please limit visitors. Your campsite is only for those registered and does not include additional visitors, guest, neighbors or relatives. All visitors must register at the office upon arrival. THIS IS THE STATE LAW. There is a fee of $5.00 per person, per day including babies. If you are expecting visitors, please make sure they are aware of our rules and fees before they arrive. Visitors must have a car pass and park in designated area. All visitors must leave by 9pm.

Failure to abide by any resort policy may result in eviction without refund.

   

RENTALS AT SHADY REST

Rental policy

Did you know that the first pontoon was made in Minnesota? Ambrose Weeres of Richmond Minnesota built the first pontoon in 1951. It was made by welding together fifty-gallon oil drums topped with plywood, carpet, wood railings, and an outboard motor. Our pontoons are much more modern. All have electric starters, some have fish finders and live well. 

 
The Deluxe Pontoon

You are responsible for any damage that may occur to your rental unit while in your care. A credit card and a signed damage agreement along with a damage deposit may be needed before rental will be issued. Damage deposit will be returned after inspection and no unreasonable damage has occurred or excessive cleaning is needed. If you would like to reserve a boat, motor or pontoon - a deposit of $30 will be required. If you decide to cancel the boat rental, your deposit will be forfeited.

Life jackets come with the rentals- Gas is not included in rates) Boat, motors and pontoon rentals minimum 4 hour rental. 

 

Boat Launching (in and out)....$6.00 for visitors, for our guests there is no charge.
Boat lifts (must be reserved in advance - state the weight of boat for proper fit)

Paddleboats........................$2.50 per hour
Canoe..................................$2.50 per hour

OTHER SERVICES

Fish Finder....... $5/day

Dump Station for non guest............$10.00
Bundle of wood..................................$5.00

Seasonal Sites

We have 70 seasonal RV sites and 16 mobile home sites. Each site has water, sewer and electric. Rates include water, sewer, and winter storage at the site. Electric (30 amp) is metered.

Lots are leased to the owner of the RV or mobile home, 1 family only. Family includes husband, wife and unmarried children under 19 years of age. ALL others are considered visitors and must be registered and charged separately. The 2009 visitor fee is $5 per day, overnight stay is $10.

The same policies hold for the seasonal sites as the over night RV sites. We do not allow pets, jet skis, atv's, fireworks, or firearms. 

Seasonal rates 2010: RV's range from $1725 - $1775 depending on location. Mobile Homes range from $2100 - $2150 depending on location. (propane and electric are metered separately for MH's) 

We have a limited number of boat slips, call for details.

Seasonal RVs for Sale and open sites

320-We currently have 2 open site for 2010 season. The size of the RV is limited to 32'. We do have 1 RV for sale. See below for more info. For more information, our rules and policies for the seasonal sites - please call Ron or Eleanor Langhoff at 554-3777 for these SEASONAL sites.
