Hers is a list of some of the events that will be taking place in our area during the time that we are open. Please check the Chamber of Commerce web sites for further details. Ton's of thing happening! Changes are made regularly.

May 13             MN Fishing Opener: Minnesota's walleye and northern pike fishing begins.
May 12             Lefse Dagan in Starbuck: The Lefse Dagen celebration, which began in 1987 is sponsored by the Starbuck Depot Society, and has a twofold purpose: to commemorate the record setting world's record Lefse bake during the Starbuck Centennial celebration in 1983 by a group of Starbuck Lions and to hold and open house at the Starbuck Depot Square where the 70 pound Lefse with a diameter of 9 feet 8 inches was baked. Event times are 10 am to 2 pm
May 11-18       Spring Yard Sale in Alex. Lots of STUFF! Held at the Douglas County Historical Society.
May 19             Armed Forces Day & Airport Day in Alex. Waffle Feed. Salute to Armed forces. Aviation and Military Displays in the Hangers. Event runs from 8 am to 1 pm

May 25-26        Awake the Lakes Festival in Alex. Community Kickoff to Summer - Music, food, entertainment, Water Activities. Johnny Holm Concert on Saturday Night from 8:30 pm to Midnight. Tickets are $10 per person plus Food cost. Breakfast with Big Ole Sunday morning at the museum.
June 2              Shady Rest Resort's 1st Responders Fishing Tournament. Held at the resort and raise funds for our local 1st Responders. Contact the resort for more details.
June 10             Minnesota Walleye Trail Fishing Tournament. Lake Le Homme Dieu. 
June 15-17        Country Music Festival, Sauk Centre
June 16-17        Hospice Motorcycle Weekend. Have a great ride for a good cause!
June 21             The Gatlin Brothers at Central Square in Glenwood
June 23             Air Show at the Alexandria Airport.
June 24             Terrace Mill Summerfest at Terrace 
June 24             Vikingland Band Festival.  The sound of music fills the streets of Alexandria the last weekend in June when over 2,000 high school band musicians arrive to compete in the Vikingland Band Festival. On Sunday afternoon, twenty marching bans from throughout Minnesota and the Upper Midwest perform in what is known at Minnesota's biggest summer marching band competition. Alexandria's own Jefferson Marching Band plays host to the competing units. The completion is intense and the music is unsurpassed. Throw out a lawn chair along Broadway for a parade you are sure to remember. The Parade begins at 1:30 pm.
